Catherine Campbell and I had two preview performances of this show about a fortnight ago. Tonight we start our ‘official’ four night run at the Queens Arms Hotel in Wright St. Thurs Mar 13-Sat Mar 15 we perform at 7.30pm and Sun Mar 16 at 5pm.
The show features a very different sort of repertoire than I’m used to – Catherine has opened me up to lots of different songwriters. While I’ve been familiar with the work of Casey Bennetto and Eddie Perfect for a few years, I never thought I’d be playing a Nick Cave or Paul Kelly song. Not because they don’t write great songs, but they don’t often get performed in my cabaret world. Catherine makes them fit in wonderfully though and the show is fresh and different to the work we’ve done together previously.
