When the etypejazz band and I were at Jim Caruso’s Cast Party at Birdland in New York last month, we met up with the lovely and very talented singer Joan Crowe. It’s a small world after all – I’d first met Joan through Sue Matsuki, another extremely gifted jazz leaning cabaret performer.

I’ll save the rest of Sue’s story for another time, but I’d met Joan at a dinner party at Sue’s house in Brooklyn back in 2005.
Joan’s cd(s?) is distributed by the same label in Asia that distributes etypejazz’s album ‘Under the Influence‘ and etype’s manager Becc Brown arranged for us to catch up with Joan while we were in New York.
Since seeing her again, I’ve been keeping up to date with the regular podcasts that Joan uploads at her website funnyjazzchick.com – they’re short, really entertaining and she showcases some great material. Why don’t you check them out too?
